  • So, what I think is so special about what we're doing is it is truly a holistic multimodal way of healing. And that is so important because we are not just one thing. We are not just one person. We have so many different roles and so many different pieces of ourselves that for true transformational healing to occur, we need to look at all of those pieces of ourselves and work on healing each piece. And so there's the physical aspect of our physical body. There's the creative aspect of our creative parts of our brain. There's the talking it out. There's the analytical parts of our brain. There's the writing to help ourselves express ourselves. You know, it's physical, it's emotional, it's spiritual, it's everything. And so if we just focus on one mode of healing, one way of healing, we leave a whole host of other parts of ourselves untouched and unsoothed and unhealed. And that's definitely, you know, something that we want to do is to look at ourselves as a whole. And I think that that is so important. And so transformational when we finally accept and love every single part of ourselves and see every single part of ourselves and hold space for every single part of ourselves. And that's when we really truly step in to who we are meant to be.

Niche:Two types of clients usually make their way to me: the ones who love writing and have seen the healing it brings to their lives, and the ones who hate it and want to lean into that discomfort.

I love working with both! With those for whom writing is already a trusted coping tool, we can work together to dive deep into processing emotions and healing from past trauma. We can play with form and perspective, and work towards producing writing that is ready to be shared. New, or hesitant writers, learn newfound confidence and wellsprings of creativity to help them navigate challenging situations or emotions.

Through personalized writing exercises and reflections, I help my clients of all writing levels to find their voice and empower them to make it heard.

Many of us have long been conditioned to be silent, polite. To mask our emotions and present a carefully curated version of ourselves to the world. Through emotional writing, we allow ourselves the opportunity to peel away those masks and acknowledge the feelings that we’ve shoved into the dusty corners of our mind.

Writing is also a way for us to make sense of things that have happened to us — exploring our inner narratives heals us as we identify and express our emotions. I know that writing has helped me in my journey of finding wholeness and connectedness after trauma, and I have witnessed the way writing allows others to discover and voice their stories.

I was born and raised in Mesa, AZ and I will never live anywhere else! Before becoming part of the House of Clay, I taught Rhetoric and Composition in Utah at Brigham Young University and at Arizona State University. I love true crime, baking, and going on adventures with my little boy.
