We believe in the triumph of the human spirit the same way Clay did.

Clay was our Dad and adoration falls short of how we feel about him.

He was kind and gentle; he was funny and devout; he was the most generous human we have ever known. His life was a model of what change can look like: progressive, vigorous, bettering-the- self kind of change. He was an educated professional who worked as a Chiropractor — a magical healer. He was the old school kind who liked to make people laugh and feel at ease. He wasn’t afraid to hug. He wasn’t too conditioned to refuse bartering. And, above all, he put unconditional love first.

Towards the close of his life’s book, my sister interviewed about his most poignant pieces. She asked him what his favorite job was, and he talked about a job he had after headwinds of age discrimination pushed him out of chiropractic work.  He said ‘Xango” was his favorite job. He was hired to run paperwork and help his team tidy odds and ends. By this time, he was old and bent a bit in stature, but his wisdom had the eagle-eyed view. They named him “the Fax Man,” drew up a caricature, and the Fax Man popped up in language, and shirts, and even on birthday cake! This symbol held the essence of his being. It swirled around the office validating the cheery and loving heart he had.

House of Clay honors this legacy of unconditional love first. House of Clay is the symbol and space for generosity, healing, and growth. We believe in the triumph of the human spirit the same way that Clay did. We are all being molded, smoothed, and artistically woven into our best selves. Perhaps, at the end of our revolutions around and around, if we are lucky enough, we will all say House of Clay was our favorite place to work. A place we felt held, and honored, and, most importantly, unconditionally loved.

The “Fax Man” Caricature

We are all Clay. Born to be smoothed, pressed, and molded into something great, designed, and extraordinary.

We are all held gently in the palm of destiny waiting to gently exhale her breath on our embers to help us take flight. We love this work, it’s our life, our call, and our design.
We found our way, let us help you find yours.
