Mindfulness Series: Empowered Pelvic Floor: Moving Beyond the Kegel with Raquel

The pelvic floor consists of muscles, ligaments, tissues, & nerves that you really don't think about but you really need! Optimal Pelvic floor function involves appropriate
muscular contraction AND relaxation in a coordinated fashion that meets the
demands of the involved task. Improving your awareness of your own pelvic floor function can decrease the risk of incontinence, pelvic/hip/back pain and improve sexual function!

Learning Objectives
- improve your awareness of your own pelvic floor function
- review the basic anatomy of the pelvic floor and it's relationship to bowel, bladder, gut, & sexual function
- learn how to "Uptrain" (contract) and "downtrain" (relax) the pelvic floor musculature in various positions
- identify optimal positions that the pelvic floor is naturally facilitated
- understand the signs of pelvic health dysfunction & potential resources to consider
