The pelvic floor consists of muscles, ligaments, tissues, & nerves that you really don't think about but you really need! Optimal Pelvic floor function involves appropriate muscular contraction AND relaxation in a coordinated fashion that meets the demands of the involved task. Improving your awareness of your own pelvic floor function can decrease the risk of incontinence, pelvic/hip/back pain and improve sexual function! Learning Objectives - improve your awareness of your own pelvic floor function - review the basic anatomy of the pelvic floor and it's relationship to bowel, bladder, gut, & sexual function - learn how to "Uptrain" (contract) and "downtrain" (relax) the pelvic floor musculature in various positions - identify optimal positions that the pelvic floor is naturally facilitated - understand the signs of pelvic health dysfunction & potential resources to consider.
